Bio: Thomas Monz went from plumber to a PhD in experimental physics at the University of Innsbruck, Austria to science entrepreneur. During his PhD he was initially working on quantum networks, to later focus on quantum metrology and quantum computing. Subsequently he worked for a Scottish laser company as technical support for the sales team, before returning to Austria.
There he co-founded AQT as CEO, together with Prof. Rainer Blatt and Prof. Peter Zoller. The device offered by AQT holds the record for the best quantum computer in Europe. The quantum processor, accessories, as well as entire quantum computers have been sold successfully and repetitively by the team internationally.
