Pendulums have been at the heart of many pivotal experiments in physics. Perhaps their most notable contributions are in the study of gravity, including the measurement of the gravitational constant by Cavendish and the demonstration of Earth's rotation by Foucault. While the landscape of gravitational research has changed dramatically since these discoveries, pendulums are still swinging in modern science. In my talk, I will highlight some new insights we can gain about gravity using pendulums and how my lab uses them to explore the interface between gravity and quantum physics.
