                                                Spring is upon us

                                                Curious spirits unite

                                                Shades of green evolve

Every moment offers a chance for a new beginning. In this spirit, we are happy to invite you to the first ISTA Spring Festival.

The Spring Festival is an internal afternoon event, which offers the opportunity to meet new (and old) colleagues and have an informal exchange about the many science and non-science related activities that the community of ISTA is all about. Details on the program will follow soon.

Please register for the Spring Festival and let us know by May 26 if you will attend.

Please note that registration is mandatory in order to provide the right amount of food. We kindly ask you for a small contribution (EUR 5) which covers food and soft drinks. Soft drinks will be free of charge during the whole event. You will be able to buy beer and wine from the caterer during the Spring Festival. You can pay with cash (kindly prepare the exact amount) at the Error Bar from 23 May.
Please note that ISTA will donate an amount equivalent to the sum of all registration fees to organizations helping Ukrainian refugees. This is in addition to the already announced donation by the institute.

Error Bar opening hours : Mon – Fri:      9:00 am – 9:00 pm
You will receive a bracelet which you will need to bring to the Spring Festival in order to get food and drinks.

Sciku Contest

As part of the Spring Festival we are opening a call for the ISTA Sciku contest. A Sciku (science + haiku) is a short poem about science following a traditional structure of 17 syllables (5-7-5), which are often associated with nature and/or seasonal references. Read more about Haikus and Scikus and get tips for writing them at www.thescikuproject.com. To participate, please submit your Sciku to eventoffice@ist.ac.at by May 20.

Criteria

The best Scikus will be recited at the Spring Festival, and the author of the best Sciku as determined by a jury will win an awesome prize! Everyone who submits a Sciku fulfilling the criteria will receive a print of their Sciku on paper (max. 1/person).

We look forward to your submissions and seeing you at the Spring Festival!
