DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Stefan Fredenhagen\nhosted by Robert Seiringer\nAbstra
ct: Higher-spin gauge theories provide interesting generalisations of grav
ity by gauge fields of spins higher than two. Via holography they correspo
nd to conformal field theories with conserved higher-spin charges\, and th
ere are indications that they are related to string theory in the tensionl
ess limit. In this talk I give an introduction to the formulation of highe
r-spin gauge theories in three space-time dimensions\, and I discuss their
asymptotic symmetries which lie at the heart of the higher-spin AdS_3/CFT
 _2 correspondence.
