 tract: Publishing in influential journalsEver wondered how high-impact jou
 rnals select content for publication and how peer review works? In this ta
 lk\, I will discuss the editorial process at these journals\, which typica
 lly rely on professional editors\, focusing in particular on the Cell Pres
 s portfolio and introducing Newton\, our flagship physics journal. I will
  also share my views on current trends in scientific publishing\, and prov
 ide tips on how to maximise the fit of your manuscript for high-impact jou
 rnals and on how to deliver an appropriate reviewer report if you are invi
 ted to review a manuscript.  Elisa De Ranieri\, Editor-in-Chief\, Newto
 nElisa obtained her PhD in physics from the University of Cambridge and wo
 rked as a research scientist at the Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory. Her expe
 rimental work on semiconductor spintronics included the design\, fabricati
 on\, and characterization of devices by magneto-transport and magneto-opti
 cal measurements. Elisa joined Cell Press in 2021 as Head of Author Experi
 ence and Research Integrity after acquiring extensive editorial and publis
 hing experience at the Nature portfolio\, working amongst other roles as a
 n editor for Nature Nanotechnology\, Nature Energy\, and as Editor-in-ch
 ief for Nature Communications. In 2023-24 she was the Director of Author 
 Experience for Cell Press\, and became the founding Editor-in-chief of Ne
 wton in 2024.
