DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Chris Bruntlett\nhosted by Jeroen Dobbelaere\nAbstract
: Urban and transportation planners from around the world have long admire
d the Netherlands’ impressive cycling infrastructure and culture\, and f
requently visit the country to marvel at its bustling bike lanes\, giganti
c parking facilities\, and traffic-calmed streets. But coming from more sp
 rawling\, car-dominated and car-dependent environments\, it’s difficult
to imagine replicating their amazing success\, where the average resident
now pedals over 1\,000 kilometres per year. Discover the key principles th
at were developed by the Dutch over the past fifty years\, draw out concre
te lessons for global cities to follow their lead\, and learn how some of
these ideas are already being implemented in cities around the world\, as
they face converging crises forcing many of them to reevaluate how they al
locate space on their curbs and streets.
