DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Marcus Sperling\nhosted by Tamas Hausel\nAbstract: In
 three-dimensional N=4 supersymmetric gauge theories defined by quivers\, o
ne can associate two hyper-Khler moduli spaces: the Higgs and Coulomb bran
ches. While the Higgs branch has been well-understood for decades\, both m
athematically via the hyper-Khler quotient and physically through classica
l field theory\, the Coulomb branch presents deeper challenges. Quantum ef
fects obscure the classical picture\, and a mathematically rigorous defini
tion has only emerged in the past decade. In this talk\, I focus on the Co
ulomb branches of quiver gauge theories and introduce a physics-inspired s
trategy based on "decay and fission" of quivers.
