DESCRIPTION:Speaker: David DiVincenzo\nAbstract: I will begin with a quick
personal review of the steady progress that has brought us to our present
state in superconductor and semiconductor quantum processors. Progress tow
ards a large system seems perfectly possible\, but it will require looking
outside the functioning of the qubits themselves\, to address myriad pote
ntial problems of making the whole system function together. I will discus
s two recent themes of my work\, first in the area of detailed electromagn
etic modeling of qubit-cavity systems\, and next in the area of potential
improvements to the microwave circulator\, a ubiquitous component needed i
n signal-handling in the quantum computer.
