DESCRIPTION:hosted by Equity Diversity and Inclusion Office\nAbstract: Succ
ess in academia is not equally accessible to all. Especially\, for individ
uals with disabilities\, certain skin colors\, or socio-economic backgroun
ds\, pursuing a science career can be particularly challenging. We invite y
ou to join us for an enlightening event that brings together distinguished
  scientists\, Rachael Dangarembizi (https://neuroscience.uct.ac.za/contac
ts/rachael-dangarembizi)\, Senior Lecturer and Neuroscientist\, Neuroscien
ce Institute\, University of Cape Town\, South Africa\, Onur Güntürkün
  (https://www.bio.psy.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/bpsy/team/onur_guentuerkuen.html.
 en)\, Professor for Biopsychology\, University Bochum\, Germany\, and And
 rew Krause (https://www.durham.ac.uk/staff/andrew-krause/)\, Associate Pro
fessor in Applied Mathematics\, Durham University\, UK. All of them have
navigated (and are still navigating) these unique challenges. Through the
sharing of personal stories\, we will gain insight into how these experien
ces have shaped their careers and influenced their interactions within aca
demia. This event aims to foster a deeper understanding of the systemic bar
riers that continue to exist for many\, while celebrating the resilience a
nd achievements of these individuals. By creating a space for open dialogu
e\, we hope to challenge traditional narratives of scientific careers and
inspire greater empathy\, inclusivity\, and action within our academic com
munity. We look forward to your participation in this important conversatio
