DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Stephen Kent\nAbstract: One of the most intriguing
aspects of the biological world is that all	\nprotein	molecules
found	in nature	are homochiral	– that	is\, they	are	‘Lproteins’\,\n
made	up	exclusively	of	L-amino	acids	and	the	achiral	amino	acid	\nglycine.
My	presentation	will focus	on the	preparation	and	properties	of	\nmirro
r	image	‘D-protein’	molecules	not	found	in	nature.	I	will	discuss	the	\n
use	of racemic	crystallography for	protein	structure	determination	by	Xr
ay\n crystallography. I will also discuss our current research on
the	\nsystematic	development	of	D-proteins	a	candidate	human	therapeutics
