DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Caroline Muller\nhosted by Francesca Pellicciotti\nAbs
tract: Processes at a small scale within the atmosphere and oceans captiva
te interest\, yet their significance extends to influencing Earth's climat
 e. Examples such as ocean waves and atmospheric clouds illustrate this imp
act. Clouds\, for instance\, wield substantial influence over our planet's
overall energy equilibrium by interacting with atmospheric radiation. The
y also closely intertwine with the water cycle\, profoundly affecting prec
ipitation patterns and carrying significant societal consequences. Likewis
e\, internal waves within the ocean can alter water masses\, thus influenc
ing global ocean circulation\, by transporting energy and momentum. This p
resentation aims to explore recent progress in our fundamental understandi
ng of these smaller-scale dynamics\, and delve into the persisting challen
 ges and open questions.
