 s Drosophila and mouse genetics to\nidentify the molecular mechanisms that
  control asymmetric cell\ndivision in stem cell lineages. During the past 
 years\, the lab has\nidentified many of the key players that regulate this
  process in\nDrosophila neural stem cell lineages. They found that defects
  in\nasymmetric cell division can initiate the formation of stem cell\nder
 ived tumors. More recently\, Jürgen Knoblich's laboratory has\nstarted to
  use genome wide loss of function analysis to\nunderstand the control of p
 roliferation in stem cell lineages on a\nsystems level.
