DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Paul Schmid-Hempel\nAbstract: The role of parasitism i
n natural population has become re-considered in\nthe light of evolutionar
y thinking for barely more than two decades. A\npriori principles have led
to the formulation of new concepts that are\nintensively studied in the r
apidly increasing field of evolutionary\nparasitology. In an insect-trypan
osome model system\, our lab has studied\nsome of those questions\, includ
ing issues relating to the costs of host\ndefence or parasite strategies o
f diversification. New issues have recently\narisen such as\, for example\
, the presence of additional players in the\nhost-parasite interaction.
