  AbstractIn this talk\, I want to share my (maybe crazy) experience on bec
 oming an entrepreneur after my scientific career abroad. I did an internat
 ional PhD visiting multiple universities and research centers\, just for e
 nding up starting my own tech-company. What seemed the logical next step a
 fter my PhD turned out to be rather conflicting in the first place. Speed\
 , simple communication\, and a focus on stories rather than facts were not
  part of my initial repertoire after 4 years of technical PhD studies. How
 ever\, what I encountered is that the basic skills acquired during a scien
 tific career such as dedication\, correctness\, and preciseness allowed me
  to master very quickly the awkward skills of the entrepreneur. Simplifyin
 g messages\, delivering value to others and the possibility to always say 
 “I don’t know (but I will have a look at it)” enriched my life and g
 ave a lot of meaning to the work I have been doing. About Stefano CossDr
 . Stefano Coss studied energy technology and energy management at the Mont
 anuniversitaet Leoben. He did his PhD at Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and
  IMT Atlantique (France) in the field of modeling and simulation of sustai
 nable energy systems. He first came in touch with innovation and entrepren
 eurship during a 2 weeks MBA crash course at Esade Business School (Spain)
 \, from which he kicked-off his passion for working on the energy transiti
 on creating impact and purpose. He is now the founder of Arteria Technolog
 ies\, a tech company focusing on planning and optimization of decentralize
 d energy systems. The company is in the pre-seed stage with a team of 4 an
 d looking for a CTO to join the team during the coming investment round.
