 jects in mathematics is the Riemann zeta function\, which has fascinated a
 nd puzzled mathematicians for over three centuries. This object and its ge
 neralisations\, which are known as L-functions\, play a central role in nu
 mber theory\, as they are closely bound up with fundamental phenomena such
  as the distribution of prime numbers and the existence of rational soluti
 ons to algebraic equations. \n\nIn this talk\, I'll give an overview of wh
 at's known about the values of these functions\, and some of the arithmeti
 c information that these values reveal.
