DESCRIPTION:Speaker: José L. Toca-Herrera\nhosted by Martin Loose\nAbstrac
t: In this seminar\, I would like to present the versatility of the atomic
force microscopy (AFM) when used in different fields such as soft matter\
, biophysics or biology. \nI will present how AFM is utilized as a high re
solution imaging device to characterize (macro)molecules at different inte
rfaces (e.g. crystallization processes or lipid-protein interactions). \nF
urthermore\, I will point out the advantages of the AFM when it is used as
a mechanical device. In this part\, I will talk about molecular forces\,
elasticity of macromolecules and cell mechanics. \nFinally\, I will point
out different possibilities to combine the scanning probe microscopy with
other microscopy techniques such as fluorescence microscopy and RICM.
