 r development with a woman who fought for her position at a time in the re
 cent past when deserving women were not given leadership roles in academia
 . Other topics of discussion may include what motivates women in science\,
  why do women choose particular career paths\, and anything else you want 
 to discuss. We hope to see many of you there! It will be moderated by Hi
 lde Janssens. Christa Schleper is professor at the University of Vienna\,
  Austria\, since 2007 and head of the Department of Functional and Evoluti
 onary Ecology. Her work focusses on the ecology\, physiology\, molecular b
 iology and evolution of Archaea and the development of tools for environme
 ntal genomics to characterize uncultivated microorganisms.Schleper has don
 e her PhD at the Max-Planck-Institute in Munich\, postdocs at Caltech and 
 Univ. of Sta Barbara\, California\, and was assistant professor at the Uni
 versity of Darmstadt and full professor at the University of Bergen\, Norw
 ay. She is an elected member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and of EM
 BO. She is currently speaker of the PhD program Nitrogen cycling: From si
 ngle cells to ecosystems and within her ERC Advanced Grant works on Asgar
 d Archaea\, the closest living prokaryotic relatives of eukaryotes. She is
  also organizer of the new interdisciplinary Climate Change and Climate Cr
 isis lecture of the Univ. of Vienna and actively supports women in science
