DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Hulya Arguz\nhosted by Tamas Hausel\nAbstract: In the
first hour we will review the framework of the Gross--Siebert program in m
irror symmetry. The basic idea of this program is work with toric degenera
tions of Calabi--Yau manifolds\, and to investigate mirror symmetry around
the special fiber of such degenerations\, along with some additional comb
inatorial data associated to it. This data is given in terms of affine geo
metry and log structures. In the second part of the talk\, we will focus o
ur attention on the Tate curve\, and explain how to capture certain enumer
ative invariants of it\, by using log structures.
