 e ventral cochlear nucleus is the starting point for auditory processing i
 n the brain. To date\, only a single subtype of inhibitory interneuron has
  been described there. Using a combination of transgenic mouse lines\, ele
 ctrophysiology\, and large-scale tissue imaging\, we have identified a new
  group of neurons that may account for over 90% of inhibitory cells in thi
 s brain region.
