DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Martin Huesmann\nhosted by M. Beiglböck\, N. Beresty
 cki\, L. Erdös\, J. Maas\nAbstract: The Sine_\\beta point process is a st
ationary point process that appears as the limit of a certain system of in
teracting particles with a logarithmic repulsion\, the so called one-dimen
sional log-gas. In this talk\, we give a characterisation of the Sine_\\be
ta process as the unique minimizer of a free energy functional. Our argume
nt is based on the combination of optimal transport ideas for point proces
ses and approximation techniques for log-gases (screening).
