DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Beatriz Vicoso\nhosted by Sylvia Cremer\nAbstract: Alt
hough males and females largely share a single genome\, in many species th
ey can look and act completely different. How are these different morpholo
gies encoded at the molecular level? What is the role of sex chromosomes\,
the only part of the genome that differs between the sexes? And how do ge
nomes evolve when traits that are good for one sex can be bad for the othe
r (i.e. there is sexual conflict)? Our lab addresses these questions using
genomics and transcriptomics in a variety of model and nonmodel organisms
\, and I will highlight some of our recent projects and results.
