DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Helen Weavers\nhosted by Daria Siekhaus\nAbstract: a c
omplex interplay of pro-inflammatory attractant signals\, developmental pr
iming and cytoprotection An effective inflammatory response is pivotal to
fight infection\, clear debris and orchestrate the repair of injured tiss
ues. However\, inflammation must be tightly regulated since many human dis
ease pathologies are a consequence of inappropriate or excessive inflammat
ion. Using a genetically tractable Drosophila model\, we use spatio-tempor
al genetic manipulation\, in vivo live imaging and computational modeling
to dissect the mechanisms that both activate the inflammatory response to
tissue damage and those that simultaneously protect the regenerating tissu
e from inflammation-driven damage. In this way\, successful tissue repair
not only relies on the hosts ability to mount an effective inflammatory re
sponse\, but also its ability to finely tune it and limit associated immun
 opathology.
