DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Robert Dick\nhosted by Florian Schur\nAbstract: Assemb
ly of infectious HIV virus particles is dependent on the formation of a vi
ral protein shell. This shell is composed of a lattice of protein hexamers
. I will present recent findings that the small cellular molecule inositol
hexakisphosphate (IP6) promotes lattice formation by binding to a pocket
at the protein hexamer interface. This is the first small molecule identif
ied as an HIV assembly factor.
