We know that the land system is subject to the climate and weather: we can see maps of deserts, tropical rainforests and ice-sheets when we look at satellite images. But is the weather and climate subject to the land? Where and how is the land system creating the weather and climate that it needs? In this talk, I will demonstrate several examples of how the physics of the land system interacts with the atmosphere to create the beautiful planet that we live on.
