BMIs use peoples' or animals' brain activity to activate or deactivate external devices and computers. Application of BMIs in chronic stroke, epilepsy and locked -in syndrome and some psychological disorders are described. Brain mechanisms behind BMIs and philosophical problems (loss of volition, free will problem) and ethical consequences will be discussed.
