On the zeta function and a conjecture of Deligne

Algebraic Geometry and Number Theory Seminar

Date: Thursday, March 2, 2023 13:00 - 15:00
Speaker: Harald Grobner (Uni Wien)
Location: Heinzel Seminar Room (I21.EG.101), Office Building West, ISTA
Series: Mathematics and CS Seminar
Host: Tim Browning

In 1979, Pierre Deligne has stated a far-reaching conjecture on the nature of so-called critical values of L-functions attached to irreducible motives. In this talk we will first explain the genesis/background of his conjecture by considering in some details classical results on the zeta function and then explain in due shortness our approach to a (partial) solution of the problem over CM-fields.
