This talk will be concerned with the one dimensional porous medium equation (PME) perturbed by Stratonovich transport noise. Due to the finite speed of propagation property of the porous medium equation, one may suspect that because of the nature of the noise term solutions to the Cauchy-Dirichlet problem die out after some finite time. Based on an introduction to parts of the theory of the deterministic and stochastic PME, I will discuss an approach to this problem which connects deterministic and probabilistic arguments.
